Follow these 11 essential steps to begin your educational journey in Australia
Select a CRICOS-registered course (approved by the Australian government). Make sure the university is under the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF). Intakes: February, July, November.
Common options: IELTS Academic (most preferred), PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT (some universities). Minimum requirement: IELTS 6.0 overall, no band less than 5.5.
Apply directly online or through a certified education agent. Required documents: Passport, Academic certificates and transcripts, English test result, Statement of Purpose (SOP), CV (especially if you have a gap).
You will receive either: Conditional Offer (pending documents like IELTS, final transcript), or Unconditional Offer (ready for visa process).
Australia requires a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement. Show proof of funds for: Tuition fees (as per course), Living cost: AUD 24,505/year (2025 update), Travel: approx. AUD 2,000. Bank statement (3–6 months), either your own or parent's/sponsor's.
Pay at least 1 semester's tuition (usually AUD 8,000–15,000). Buy Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) – mandatory for visa. Must cover the full length of your course.
After fee & OSHC payment, the university will issue a COE Letter. This is essential for your student visa application.
Health checkup required (including TB test). Book appointment via My Health Declarations online. Cost: around NPR 12,000. Medical is done at IOM, Kathmandu.
Apply online via ImmiAccount: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. Documents required: Passport, COE, SOP (GTE statement), Financial documents, OSHC confirmation, Medical results. Visa Application Fee (2025): AUD 710.
